This Collection was inspired when I received a Cross of Agadez, an image used in Saharan Africa. The center of the cross represents God while the four arms of the cross are used as a means of protection to keep evil at bay. The Cross of Agadez is often used as a protective amulet, considered a symbol of faith, devotion and a way to keep negative energy away. When researching African Goddesses, I came across Oya and knew immediately that this Collection belonged to her.

Much of Oya’s power is rooted in the natural world; She is the Goddess of thunder, lightning, tornadoes, winds, rainstorms and hurricanes. A Fire Goddess, it is Oya who brings rapid change and aids us in both inner and outer transformation.

Oya is the guardian of the realm between life and death; as such, She is not only the Goddess of spirit communication, but also the Goddess of clairvoyance, psychic abilities, intuition and rebirth. She can call forth the spirit of death, or hold it back — such is the extent of Her power. Because of Her affiliation to the dead, and Her intense knowledge of the magick arts, Oya is also known as “the Great Mother of the Elders of the Night (Witches)”.

This Choker necklace features 4mm Blue Goldstone beads with brass spiral charms.

Blue Goldstone connects one with the Divine and provides wisdom, energy and courage. Assisting with learning and communication, it teaches one to see the light at the end of the darkness and that everything is the source of energy and vibration. Blue Goldstone is one of the best stones for Empaths.
